Job Description

Job Title: Private Head Chef

The Client offers a competitive salary commensurate with the candidate's experience. The selected candidate will lead and manage an established culinary team of two Cooks.

This role requires frequent travel across multiple locations, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Germany. Therefore the candidate must be versatile at managing various kitchen setups and maintaining consistency in culinary excellence.

A trial period may be required by the Principal. In which case fully expensed travel and accommodation will be provided.

The role will be on a live-out basis.

Duties:

  • Staff Training & Development: Lead, mentor, and train kitchen staff to enhance skills and maintain a positive, growth-focused environment. Facilitate workshops to ensure team proficiency.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, optimize workflows, and coordinate staff schedules to ensure seamless food preparation and high-quality output.
  • Menu Creation & Customization: Develop diverse, seasonal menus tailored to the family’s dietary preferences and needs. Handle meal preparation for special events and celebrations.
  • Quality Control: Maintain impeccable standards for taste, presentation, and safety through rigorous quality checks and regular taste tests.
  • Sourcing & Procurement: Source premium, fresh ingredients from trusted suppliers. Build and maintain supplier relationships while negotiating competitive pricing for consistent quality.
  • Inventory & Waste Management: Monitor inventory levels, implement effective waste reduction strategies, and manage kitchen budgets to optimize expenditures.
  • Hygiene & Cleanliness: Enforce strict hygiene protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and maintaining a spotless kitchen environment.
  • Meal Preparation & Service: Prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals punctually. Occasionally assist with desserts, pastries, or baked goods.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of proven experience as a Private Chef, including managing kitchen staff.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree (2–4 years) or equivalent formal training.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Eligibility to work in the EU.
